News and Views: 2017–18 Season – Cup and Plate Semi–Finals – 20 February 2018

The questions were set by the Chester Road Tavern and the Church House Bollington. The question setters were asked to provide two question masters each for the four Cup and Plate semi–finals.

Plate

All four semi–finals were won by the home teams. Two of them (the Ox–fford 'C' and the Waters Green Rams) went first, and two (the Dolphin and the Plough Horntails) went second.

Both Cup semi-finals were quite close, the margin being just six points in each case.

The average score was 91 points (100.5 in the Cup and 82 in the Plate), as compared with 89 in the quarter-finals and also 89 in the semi-finals last season.

Cup Final: 17 April 2018

The Cup Final will be held at the Weaver, Thornton Square, on Tuesday 17 April – at 7:30 p.m. for a prompt 8:00 start. The questions will be collated by the Ox-fford and the Royal Oak, from those provided by all teams using the sheet and envelope supplied on 27 February.

The Cup Final will be followed by the presentation of all the season's prizes.

Plate Final (date TBA)

The Plate Final will be held before the start of the 2018–19 season, probably in September 2018. The questions will be collated by the Pack Horse Bowling Club and the Robin Hood, from those provided by all teams using the sheet and envelope supplied on 27 February, and not used in the Cup Final.

The Plate Final will be followed by the 2018 AGM.
