Round 1: 17 January 1989

Question Setters: Lamb 'A', Millstone 'A', CAP 'A'. The Town Hall Club, White Swan 'A' and Nags Head 'A' were also asked to provide question masters.

The games at the  and the were drawn as the ones whose losing teams would set the questions for the Rounds of 16 in the Cup and Plate (rounds 3 and 2 respectively).

Round 2: 14 February 1989

Question setters: Macclesfield Cricket Club. Vetters: Gardners QT. The following teams were also asked to provide question masters to cover the sixteen Cup and Plate games: Nags Head 'B', Bate Hall, Franklin 'A', Woodman, George & Dragon (S), Sutton Club.

Quarter–Finals: 7 March 1989
